We Believe
-
In the Holy Scriptures
We believe that the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the Divinely inspired and infallible Word of God. Written by men under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, they alone constitute the final authority on matters of Christian faith and practice.
-
In the Triune God
We believe in one God in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is eternal, all-powerful, and unchanging; He is perfect in Holiness, Wisdom, Power, and Love. He is the creator of all things and continually upholds and governs them by His power. He is the only true God and alone deserves our worship. He created mankind in His image and desires that we know Him intimately.
-
In God the Father
We believe in God the Father, the first Person of the Trinity. Although He is neither male nor possessing sexual characteristics, He is our Heavenly Father and relates to humanity in the masculine form. He hears our prayers and saves those who come to Him through Jesus Christ from sin and death.
-
In God the Son
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Trinity. He is eternally one with the Father, perfectly revealing the Father to mankind. He became flesh in the incarnation and, by His death on the cross, satisfied the wrath of God, defeated the powers of darkness, and purchased our eternal redemption and spiritual adoption as sons and daughters of God. He is our risen Lord and Saviour. He is seated at the right hand of the Father and will one day return to judge the living and the dead.
-
In God the Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is fully God, equal with the Father and Son. His primary ministry is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. The Spirit convicts unbelievers of sin and its consequences and imparts spiritual life through regeneration. The Spirit indwells, sanctifies, leads, and empowers Christians for righteousness and service.
-
In the Fall of Man
We believe that Adam, the father of the human race, was created in the image of God, righteous and without sin. In consequence of his disobedience, every person is born subject to sin and moral corruption and are, therefore, by nature and choice, the children of wrath, justly condemned in the sight of God, wholly unable to save themselves or to contribute in any way to their acceptance with God.
-
In Satan
We believe in the existence of Satan and the powers of evil. Satan, originally a great and good angel, rebelled against God, taking a multitude of angels with him. He was cast out of God’s presence and is at work with his demonic hosts to establish his counter-kingdom of darkness and evil on the earth. Satan was judged and defeated at the cross of Christ and will, at the end of the age, be cast forever into the lake of fire which has been prepared for him and his angels.
-
In Salvation
We believe that we cannot rescue ourselves from sin and judgement nor earn God's favour. We are reconciled to God, not through any personal merit, but solely by God's gracious gift of salvation received through faith.
-
In water Baptism & Communion
We believe that baptism in water and the Lord's Supper are to be observed by the church until Christ's return. They are not a means of salvation but are sacramental channels of God's sanctifying grace and blessing to the faithful in Christ Jesus.
-
In Spirit Baptism
We believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit with power is available to every believer, and that the Spirit imparts to us the biblical, supernatural gifts for spiritual growth and effective ministry. These gifts are to be eagerly desired, faithfully developed, and lovingly exercised according to scriptural guidelines. We believe that the ministry of the Spirit in signs and wonders continues to be as broad, tangible, and powerful among believers today as it was in the early church.
-
In the Church
We believe there is only one true Church, comprised of all those who follow Jesus. Furthermore, we believe that the disunity, competition and independence so commonplace in modern Christianity is contrary to the desire of God revealed in scripture. Therefore, we pray for a restoration of unity in the Church of our city (especially among its leaders) and do our best to avoid practices and attitudes that fail to recognise and honour the Body of Christ.
-
In the Five Fold Ministry
We believe God gives to the Church apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, whom He anoints in various ways to lead and equip believers to carry out the work of ministry, and to bring the whole to church to the maturity described in Scripture.
-
In Male and Female
We believe that from the beginning, God created men and women equal before Him as persons, possessing the same moral dignity and value, and having the same access to God through faith in Christ. Men and women are not interchangeable, nor is one superior to the other, but they together display the image of God on earth. We believe that God gives both men and women spiritual gifts to empower them for ministry, while His express desire and design is that men would exercise servant-leadership in both the home and the local church.
-
In the Scriptural Sex Ethic
We believe God's original creative design for human sexuality, as set forth in Scripture, is complete fidelity, physically, emotionally, and spiritually within a heterosexual and monogamous marriage. We believe that Christian marriage is a representation of Christ’s relationship to His church. Regardless of marital status, we believe Christians should pursue purity and abstain from sexually immoral practices such as adultery, premarital sex, and pornography.
-
In The Sanctity of Life
We believe that every individual is created in the image of God and, therefore, must be treated with the utmost dignity and respect regardless of national identity, language, skin pigmentation, gender, age, or ability. We believe that life is a sacred gift that begins at conception; therefore, the wilful termination of a pregnancy for any reason other than an unavoidable threat to the mother's life is prohibited by Scripture. We should remember that the sin of abortion is not unique, but as is the case with all sin, can be forgiven because of Christ's saving work on the cross. We also believe that any attempt to terminate a life due to age, disability, disease, mental illness, or an individual's desire to die is a denial of the sanctity of life and, along with abortion and racism, must be considered a heretical deviation from the truth of Scripture regarding the nature and value of all human life.

In the Resurrection
We believe that when Christians die, they go immediately into the presence of Christ, there to enjoy conscious fellowship with Him until their bodily resurrection and glorification in the new Heavens and Earth. When unbelievers die, they are consigned to hell, there to await the resurrection and the day of judgment, when they shall be punished with eternal separation from the presence of God.
